Born and raised on the island of Maui, Auntie Nahi is recognized by everyone on the island as a "Kapuna" or traditional healer. (Kapuna means "that which is hidden") Coming from a lineage of healers that goes back centuries, Nahi has been doing healing work since the age of 4 years old. Her work has taken her all over the world and brought her international recognition. She is probably most widely known for her prominent role in the International Council of Thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers, which includes elders from Tibet, Nepal, Brazil, Africa, Mexico and the US.
